Our service tip for December

Extensions and reservations

Christmas draws near, the library closes over the holidays: time to borrow books or make copies! Here is some information concerning extension and reservation:

  • Only the media that are marked accordingly in your personal library account can be extended.
  • An extension is possible at the earliest 5 working days before the end of the loan period. The extension must take place at the latest on the last day of the loan period, otherwise reminder fees will be charged.
  • All renewals are valid until withdrawal. If an item is reserved by another user during the renewal period, it has to be returned by your earliest convenience. A request for return will be sent to your e-mail address. It will also be displayed in our online catalogue that the book was requested to be returned. The medium must be returned immediately. However, official closing days of the library will be taken into account. It is possible to return the item by post .
  • An extension is not possible if a reservation already exists for the medium or if it is an overnight or weekend loan.
  • We recommend that you regularly check your personal account in the online catalogue. There you will find the current status of your loan periods and their end date.

Or perhaps you prefer reading an e-book or a journal article online at home? University employees and students can access our licensed services from outside the campus using VPN/Proxy.

For licensing reasons, the databases Amadeus, Beck-online, Beck e-Bibliothek, Juris, Wolters Kluwer Online (JURION) and ZEPHYR are a few exceptions.

The following publishers are currently offering access via Shibboleth : Springer Nature, Wiley.
