Literature management with Zotero

Zotero Logo
Zotero is a free and open-source reference management software which helps you to
  • import bibliographic search results from subject databases and websites,
  • create bibliographies and reading lists,
  • sort and arrange literature according to various criteria,
  • insert quotations and bibliographies into your own work
  • ...
Zotero can be used for the operating systems Windows, Mac OS and Linux and is also suitable for working together on projects.
After a registration on the Zotero homepage it is possible to collect bibliographical references in a personal account, to create literature collections as well as to share them with others and to work on them together.
To use Zotero most efficiently, download and install the programme. With Zotero Connector, a plug-in which is available for the browsers Chrome, Firefox and Safari, bibliographic references on web pages are automatically recognised and can be saved in Zotero with a click.
If you set up automatic synchronisation, the bibliographic references in your installed programme and your online account will always be up to date. This allows you to access and edit your collected literature references at any time via a browser without the programme.
Zotero is free and any number of references can be saved. However, as soon as documents exceeding 300 MB in size are to be stored, an annual fee for storage has to be paid.
We regularly offer introductions to Zotero (in German). You can find the dates on our homepage and on Facebook.
You can arrange individual courses with us in English for groups of five or more persons.
