ERef Bayreuth is the university bibliography of the University of Bayreuth. Researchers at the University of Bayreuth can use ERef Bayreuth as a tool for documenting references of their scholarly publications. These references can be reused in various ways, e.g., to create bibliographies on different websites or to import lists of literature into reference management software. Additionally, the visibility of the research output of the University of Bayreuth is increased.
EPub Bayreuth s the institutional repository of the University of Bayreuth. Researchers of the University of Bayreuth can upload their scholarly full-text documents (e.g., theses, working papers, parts of a series, etc.) to EPub Bayreuth themselves and publish them open access without additional costs. This offers several advantages (e.g., comprehensive distribution and long-term archiving). Additionally, members of the University of Bayreuth can publish planned papers or already published ones (e.g., preprints, postprints, journal articles) on EPub Bayreuth according to the right to secondary publication free of charge as Green Open Access.
Both ERef Bayreuth and EPub Bayreuth run on the same software (EPrints) and have similar designs. The most important difference between the two systems is that additionally to bibliographic data EPub Bayreuth requires a full text to be uploaded, whereas ERef Bayreuth only lists refrences. If full texts are added to EPub Bayreuth, the corresponding bibliographic data is automatically added to ERef Bayreuth, the university bibliography of the University of Bayreuth.
