Following the introduction of self-checkout in the Main Library and the Departmental Libraries GEO, NW I and NW II last year, you can now also borrow your items using self-checkout devices in the Departmental Library RW.
This will not lead to any changes concerning the lending conditions: items in the reference collection (location 31) are not for loan for students even using the self-checkout devices. They can only be used inside the library. Returning these items will still be possible at the circulation desk.
With the exceptions of a few types of media (e.g., reading room only materials) that can only be borrowed at the circulation desk, most ordered items will be available for you in a pick-up shelf. The items on the shelf are sorted alphabetically by collection code. The collection code consists of the first 3 letters of your surname and the last 4 digits of your library user number (e.g., TES1234). If your surname starts with „SCH“ or umlauts, the collection code is formed from the first 4 letters of your surname (e.g., SCHW3456, GOET5678).
Once you pick up an ordered item, remember to borrow them using the self-checkout device. Of course, it is also still possible to borrow items at the circulation desk. For check-out by proxy, please contact the circulation desk.
In accordance with the introduction of self-checkout, you can now also bring bags and jackets into the Departmental Library RW – even ones that are not see-through. Please continue to observe the still applicable rules: glass bottles, open cups (e.g., coffee-to-go cups), cans or food are not allowed inside the library. Please consume your food outside the library.
The library staff is happy to help you with any questions you might have!
