Access to databases, e-journals, e-books and e-newspapers from off-campus via Proxy
As access to licensed materials like databases, e-journals and e-books takes place mostly via IP address of the requesting computer, access has to occur within the network of the University of Bayreuth. However, university staff and students may also access this information from off-campus. For this service you need to use the university
proxy-addon in the browser Mozilla Firefox, which was developed by the IT Service Center. The add-on is not available for other browsers. Additional activation of the VPN client has been optional since March 2020, but can be helpful in case of access problems.
Find more
information on proxy at the homepage of IT Service Center.
As an alternative to the proxy, you can log in as UB(T) Bayreuth to authenticate with selected publishers and databases (Shibboleth system). For more information, please visit our page "
Accessing the Internet in the libraries".
