Online courses & consultations

In our self-study courses you can learn how to use our services at any time and any place. To further your knowledge we also offer online training sessions on "Library Essentials". Further information on other courses and workshops that we offer can be found below. You will also find more information on workshops on reference management and the option of individual consultations.

Currently we offer online as well as in person courses and workshops.

Self-study courses

Self-study courses are compilations of online learning materials with which you can study the contents of a course yourself. Self-study courses are available on Moodle, the e-learning platform of the University of Bayreuth. You can register with your bt-ID. We currently offer the following English courses on Moodle:

Online training sessions and workshops

Our online training sessions include input on different library topics as well as interactive exercises. To participate in an online training session, you need a computer/laptop connected to the Internet with a Windows or Mac operating system and a current web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer). You will also need a speaker or headphones/headset. (Camera is not required.)

Individual consultations

Are you looking for literature for your paper, bachelor's or master's thesis? Are you unsure which databases are suitable for your research or would you like to improve your search strategy? Do you need individual support with your literature research on a specific topic? You are welcome to arrange an individual and free online consultation appointment (usually up to 60 minutes) with us. Online consultations take place via Zoom. By clicking on the Zoom symbol below, you can book a free consultation slot.

Afterwards, please send an e-mail to and briefly describe your questions so that we can prepare for the meeting. We will then send you the link to the Zoom meeting.
